Switzerland-based global logistics provider, Kuehne+Nagel Group, has approximately 88,000 employees across more than 1,300 sites in close to 100 countries. Headquartered in Switzerland and listed on the Zurich stock exchange, the Group serves around 400,000 customers worldwide and holds leading positions in Air and Sea Logistics, alongside strong market positions in Road and Contract Logistics.
Building Digital Logistics Capabilities
Kuehne+Nagel has inaugurated a new Tech Centre in Chennai, expanding its global engineering footprint and strengthening its capabilities in digital logistics solutions. The centre will focus on developing and scaling proprietary digital products as technology becomes increasingly important to supply chain visibility, resilience and customer experience.
Chennai was selected for its established business ecosystem and access to engineering and digital talent. By early 2027, the centre is expected to have around 250 experts contributing to the development and advancement of Kuehne+Nagel’s global technology platforms, including SALOG, its digital forwarding platform for managing sea and air freight shipments worldwide.
To accelerate the centre’s launch and workforce development, Kuehne+Nagel is partnering with Accenture.
Christina Raab, Market Unit Lead Central and Eastern Europe at Accenture, says: “The launch of Kuehne+Nagel’s Tech Centre in Chennai reflects the strength of our strategic partnership. By combining our technology and operational capabilities with local talent, we are helping build a strong foundation for the centre to scale and support Kuehne+Nagel’s future growth.”
Marcus Claesson, Chief Information Officer at Kuehne+Nagel, says: “Technology and digital capabilities have become a key differentiator in logistics. Developing our core platforms in-house allows us to innovate faster, scale globally, and continuously improve the customer experience. The new Chennai Tech Centre strengthens our engineering capabilities and supports the next generation of digital logistics solutions.”
Expanding Kuehne+Nagel’s India Technology Footprint
The Chennai Tech Centre adds to Kuehne+Nagel’s existing operations in India, where the company has invested in logistics infrastructure and technology-enabled capabilities. Its India operations include a global 4PL Control Tower that provides round-the-clock supply chain visibility, alongside investments in contract logistics facilities and services.
The new centre will extend this presence into proprietary digital product engineering, with Chennai-based teams contributing to platforms used across the company’s global network. The development also reflects the company’s focus on building in-house technology capabilities to support its digital strategy and customer requirements.
