French artificial intelligence startup Mistral AI is in advanced discussions to set up a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Bengaluru, as part of its broader strategy to expand into India and deepen its global footprint, Karnataka’s Large and Medium Industries Minister M.B. Patil confirmed after a meeting with Audrey Herblin Stoop, VP of Global Public Affairs & Communication at Mistral AI, during the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos.
According to the minister, Mistral’s proposed centre will be developed through a phased approach, beginning with engineering teams and later extending into advanced research and scientific capabilities. The phased model reflects the company’s interest in tapping India’s deep pool of AI and machine learning talent.
